Please join American Society of Civil Engineers Golden Gate Branch for a Zoom Session on the Newly Operating I-680 Express Lanes.
Contra Costa County Transportation Authority has constructed new express lanes on I-680. This project won the Transportation Project of Year Award from the San Francisco Section of American Society of Civil Engineers, Construction of the SB I-680 HOV Lane Completion and Express Lane Conversion project in Contra Costa County was completed in August 2020, a full year ahead of schedule, and successful tolling operations kicked off in August of 2021. The project involved multiple contractors including a Civil Contractor, Toll System Integrator, Backhaul Contractor and PG&E. This presentation will provide a project overview, highlight the key design features and construction innovations.

Eric Lilly currently serves as the Resident Engineer for the project. He has been working on the project since 2016 when WSP USA performed a constructibility review at completion of the 65% PS&E package.
Sheena Patel currently serves as the Design Project Manager and Engineer of Record for the project. She has been working on the project since 2013 when HDR started the PID and PA/ED phases of work.
